Teague Alexy was deeply immersed in reggae this past July as he played a solo opening set with Matisyahu and Tribal Seeds in Superior, Wisconsin, and two days later sang with ska band Woodblind alongside Kymani Marley, Kabaka Pyramid and more at The 14th Annual Bayfront Reggae & World Music Festival in Duluth, Minnesota.

On Saturday, July 20, Teague made his debut at The Bayfront Reggae & World Music Festival in Duluth, Minnesota when he sat in with ska/rocksteady band Woodblind on their version of Teague’s “Workingman Song.” For video of the performance check out Teague’s IG page.

“Reggae inspired me to start playing guitar,” Teague said. “Reggae showed me the power that spirituality can have in music. I’ve learned so much from reggae and I’m always grateful when promoters see, ya know, intrinsic common threads and include me in reggae shows. Opening for guys like Ziggy, Matisyahu and seeing their bands up close, behind the scenes. Whew! What an education, man. I’ve been fortunate to be accepted by different music communities, cause, ya know, I take it all in. But, reggae is international. And, the reggae community including me proves it’s lack of discrimination etcetera because I’m not Jamaican, I chopped my dreads years ago and my music is not reggae. But, I carry plenty of reggae with me. So, yeah, it’s always an honor.”

Teague was so inspired by his reggae weekend he put together a Spotify playlist titled Teague’s Reggae Mixtape. Almost two hundred reggae songs and counting including Teague’s own “Don’t Go” from Circuit Sessions and the “Workingman Song” collaboration with Woodblind.
